Description
American naturalist and essayist John Burroughs said, "I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order." So, with that in mind we are offering this mindfulness-focused field school. Let the moon be your guide as you experience personal restoration and a deeper connection with nature during this fun and light-hearted retreat on the Outer Cape. Experience mindfulness in nature through a combination of activities including mindful bird watching, nature journaling, and sensory exploration. Throughout the field school, we will also focus on bird language, learning the five voices of the birds and key behavioral patterns that reveal what is happening in the bird ecology. A moonrise campfire on the beach will end our first day.
Spending time in the natural world has been shown to have restorative health benefits, and our bodies long for time interacting with nature. It stimulates our senses and provides the feeling of harmony, balance, and stability. The very essence of the word recreation means to restore and create anew! We hope our time together exploring the beautiful coastal landscape of the Outer Cape will increase your sense of awareness and appreciation of the natural world and yourself.
*Please note: Times listed may vary based on tides, staff, optimal wildlife sightings, and other variables. A detailed schedule will be prepared and sent out to registrants approximately 3-4 weeks in advance.
