Description
'Outermost cliff and solitary dune, the plain of ocean and the far, bright brims of the world, meadow land and marsh and ancient moor; This is the outer Cape.' Henry Beston, The Outermost House
From Henry David Thoreau to Mary Oliver, Cape Cod's beautiful scenery has acted as a muse. Together, we will trace the steps of the artists and writers who have found inspiration in this constantly changing landscape. We will begin the field school by creating our own nature journals. Then, traveling across the outer cape, we will visit the special sites that led to the formation of important works of art and literature while recording our experiences. On one of the days, we will explore the town of Provincetown, uncovering its unique literary history with a special stop at the Mary Heaton Vorse house, now home to the Provincetown Arts Society.
Please pack a brown bag lunch, snacks, and plenty of drinking water.
*Please note: the hours listed on the schedule may vary from the sample schedule in the field school brochure and are subject to change based on tides, staff, optimal wildlife sightings, and other variables. A detailed schedule will be prepared and sent to registrants at approximately 3-4 weeks in advance.
