Description
The ever-changing coastline of Cape Cod is vibrant, diverse, and dynamic. Barrier beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, coastal heathlands, and maritime forests are just some of the incredible systems we will explore in this series of hikes that celebrate these unique and essential habitats dotting our coastline.
Nauset beach is a 10-mile-long barrier beach stretching out along the Atlantic Ocean. During our hike we'll search for piping plovers and other nesting shorebirds as we make our way to the gem of Pleasant Bay, Pochet Island. This hike is 5mi in length and much of the hike includes walking on soft sand.
During the program, we make stops to enjoy birds, other wildlife, and the area's unique cultural history. We will also take water breaks and stop for lunch.
