Exploring Coastal Cape Cod: Marconi Area and Fresh Brook Village
Description
The ever-changing coastline of Cape Cod is vibrant, diverse, and dynamic. Barrier beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, coastal heathlands, and maritime forests are just some of the incredible systems we will explore in this series of hikes that celebrate these unique and essential habitats dotting our coastline.
Starting at Marconi Beach, we will hike into the pine-oak forest searching for the remains of historic Fresh Brook Village. We will also look out from the towering bluffs of Marconi Beach and explore the White Cedar Swamp, a rare wetland habitat. This hike is 4-5mi in length.
During the program, we make stops to enjoy birds, other wildlife, and the area's unique cultural history. We will also take water breaks and stop for lunch.
