Description
The ever-changing coastline of Cape Cod is vibrant, diverse, and dynamic. Barrier beaches, salt marshes, tidal flats, coastal heathlands, and maritime forests are just some of the incredible systems we will explore in this series of hikes that celebrate these unique and essential habitats dotting our coastline.
For this hike, join us as we explore Great Island, Wellfleet. This glacial island chain offers opportunities to investigate a variety of habitats, including dunes, marshes, and maritime forests. During this hike we plan to make our way out to Jeremy Point, the remote tip. Conditions on this trail vary, and many portions include soft sand. This hike is 6mi round trip.
During the program, we make stops to enjoy birds, other wildlife, and the area's unique cultural history. We will also take water breaks and stop for lunch.
