Glen Meadow Wildlife Exploration

Description

Located at the foot of Mount Greylock, Massachusetts' highest peak, the Glen Meadow Loop Trail winds through scenic meadows, forests and ponds. At this nature walk, look for clues that resident wildlife have left behind and discover where wild animals spend their time around the trail. Learn how natural history meets human history as you discover the stories behind the mysterious human-built structures in the forest -- or why the picturesque wildflower-covered hills look the way they do.

This program will cover up to 1.7 miles of wide, gravel-paved trail that is level or gradually sloping. This program is open to all ages and is designed to welcome any combination of adults and children.

Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Walk-ins are welcome with cash or check in exact change. Credit card payments are for pre-registrations only.

Instructions

Meet outside the education wing of the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center (or inside if it's raining). Your guide will begin welcoming participants at the meeting area 15 minutes before your scheduled start time, and will be visible from the main parking lot.

Because this program is focused on the outdoors, it may be cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm or other dangerous weather. If you pre-registered, you will be notified by email that the program is cancelled.

Directions to the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center:

1. As you travel on Fred Mason Road in Adams, turn onto Gould Road near Jaeschke Orchards.

2. Follow Gould Road up the hill. Turn left to stay on Gould Road. Do not continue straight onto Thiel Road, or you'll end up on an unpaved road leading to a water tower.

3. Follow Gould Road a short distance until it starts to curve to the right. Turn right into a driveway leading into the Greylock Glen parking lot, marked by a Greylock Glen banner sign. You will end up in a large, paved parking lot with the Outdoor Center visible.
