Description
Learn tips to find and identify birds on their journey north during this casual, beginner-friendly walk. The site of each walk features a mix of habitats that make them ideal for spotting species that are arriving, passing through, or are year-round residents. Colorful wood-warblers, orioles, thrushes, and more are possible for us to see this time of year.
Our walk will focus on the basics of bird-finding and identification as well as observing the behavior of the birds we can see. We will pause and enjoy observing birds rather than focusing on maintaining an intensive list of every bird in the area.
Bring your own binoculars or borrow a loaner pair from us. For more information about the site and terrain for this program, see below.
Pre-registration is recommended. If the program is not full, a limited number of walk-ins can be accommodated with cash or check in exact change. Credit card payments are for pre-registrations only.

Instructions
This program is all outdoors. Meet in front of the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center. For more information about the facility, visit greylockglenresort.com.
Trail distance covered during the bird walk could vary significantly depending on how many birds we see. This program will cover up to 1.7 miles on a wide, gravel-paved trail. The trail surface is largely flat or gently sloping, but could be wet or muddy depending on recent weather.
Directions to the Greylock Glen Outdoor Center:
1. As you travel on Fred Mason Road in Adams, turn onto Gould Road near Jaeschke Orchards.
2. Follow Gould Road up the hill. Turn left to stay on Gould Road. (We will leave a plastic A-frame sign at this intersection that points you in the right direction - look for "Mass Audubon Program" and our bird logo). Do not continue straight onto Thiel Road, or you'll end up on an unpaved road leading to a water tower. Also, avoid parking in the small gravel parking area that will be immediately visible on your right - keep going!
3. Follow Gould Road a short distance until it starts to curve to the right. Turn right into a driveway leading into the Greylock Glen parking lot, marked by a Greylock Glen banner sign. You will end up in a large, paved parking lot with the Outdoor Center visible.
4. Your guide will be waiting outside 15 minutes before your program's start time to welcome early arrivals.
