Description
Every spring, American Woodcocks or "timberdoodles" turn the meadows of the Berkshires into a runway for their magnificent aerial dance. Learn about the lives of woodcocks with a short, family-friendly presentation from a Mass Audubon naturalist, then go outside to look and listen for them on the Glen Meadow Loop. Even if we don't see any timberdoodles at Greylock Glen, you'll learn where and when to look for them during your next outing.
This program involves an indoor presentation followed by an outdoor walk on wide, gravel-paved, level or gently sloping trails. Be sure to dress to be comfortable outside in the weather of the day. Bring binoculars if you have them, or borrow a loaner pair from us when the outdoor walk begins. Depending on the weather, the trail surface might be wet, muddy, or slippery.
