Description
Explore the Great North Woods of northern New Hampshire including the Connecticut Lakes region and Franconia Notch. The Great North Woods consists of boreal forest which hosts several birds that require spruce-fir habitat including a variety of wood warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and woodpeckers at the peak of their breeding season. Search for Mourning, Bay-breasted, Canada, Chestnut-sided, Blackburnian, Palm, and Black-throated Blue warblers; Olive-sided Flycatcher; Wilson's Snipe; Black-backed Woodpecker; Canada Jay; Boreal Chickadee; and many others. The highlight of this adventure will no doubt be the quest to see and hear the Bicknell's Thrush at 4,000 feet of elevation atop Cannon Mountain. We also expect to see a variety of butterflies and several mammals, including moose.
