Forest Ecosystems in a Changing Climate

Description

How can intentional stewardship of forests help in the fight against climate change? In this 3-part online professional development series, participants will learn how to bring hopeful, solutions-focused climate education into the classroom through the study of forest ecosystems, whether in urban or rural areas. We will hear from forest ecologists and Indigenous land stewards on the impacts that climate change is having on Massachusetts forests, what that means for the wildlife and communities that depend on them, and learn how we can help. You'll leave with inspiration and specific strategies and resources you can use in your classroom.

This workshop is intended for secondary (grades 6-12) science educators who have a basic understanding of climate science.

We are excited to be able to offer this free PD series thanks to funding provided by DCR.
