In Search of Diamondback Terrapins on Sandy Neck

Description

In summer, rare Diamondback Terrapins emerge from the Great Marsh to lay their eggs in the dunes of Sandy Neck. Join a Mass Audubon Naturalist and a Sandy Neck Ranger as we search for signs of nests and tracks of these amazing and mysterious turtles.

PROGRAM MEETS AT SANDY NECK

From Route 6A on the Sandwich/barnstable line, take Sandy Neck Rd. to the park gatehouse. Parking is available just before the gatehouse.

Expect to walk through soft sand. Sunscreen and bug-spray recommended.
