Bear Creek Sanctuary Birdwatching

Description

Bear Creek Wildlife Sanctuary is a 370-acre refuge for wildlife abutting the 2,274-acre Rumney Marsh in Saugus and Revere. Bear Creek is certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council as both a Wildlife at Work and a Corporate Lands for Learning habitat. For birdwatchers, it has become a fantastic location for finding a variety of resident and winter birds.

Instructions

Meet at the Wheelabrator plant, 100 Salem Tpke (Rte. 107), Saugus. Drive through the plant gates and park in the parking lot. Please do not drive farther into the property without the group.

Bring binoculars, a field guide to birds, and a scope if you have one. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain. Be prepared to hike three to four miles.
