Introduction to Education Volunteering: Challenges on the Coast

Description

In the fall, our education volunteers help staff on field trips and in the classroom to present programs to schools, groups, and families. This session is for adults who are interested in learning about how to present sensitive subjects like sea level rise, coastal erosion and salt marsh resliency to students and families? We will take you out into the salt marsh to learn about the flora and fauna at the edge of the Merrimack, basic water sampling techniques, and the birds of the estuary. Next, we'll take a look signs of erosion and weathering, discuss coastal plant adaptations and discuss how climate change is affecting our beaches on Plum Island.

This session is free to Mass Audubon members and nonmembers can register and pay a one-time fee of $70.00 and have the option of a full-year membership!
