Owls on the Move

Description

Nocturnal by nature, owls are a mysterious group of birds. Scientists are studying them to learn more about their migration behavior and population density. One local study is being conducted by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation's Reservation Supervisor Sean Riley on Northern Saw-Whet Owls. Join us for a banding demonstration as trained bird banders check mist nets for Northern Saw-whet Owls on the move. If we're lucky enough to capture an owl or two, you'll see how bird banders process and band owls before the birds are released.
