Woodcock Walk

Description

Woodcocks are "upland" shorebirds, which nest in forested habitat. In early spring Woodcocks make their way to field edges to court potential mates, filling the last hours of daylight with spectacular aerial displays. Listen for their unusual call and watch as they rocket up 100 feet or more and zigzag back to earth. Join us as we attempt to view this amazing rite of spring. Along the way we will look and listen for other nocturnal creatures like beavers and owls.

Instructor Kathy Stark Dia is a field teacher and birding guide who enjoys working with birders and nature enthusiasts of all ages and levels.
