Bugs on the Farm

Description

Insects are a vital part of every ecosystem. The end of the summer brings population booms for many species of insects, transformations for some, while others seek shelter for the coming winter months and others are out to grab a meal.

During this hands-on event, you will meet, learn about, and even hunt for these incredible organisms at a variety of stations throughout the farm!

You will meet beetles, hissing cockroaches, and spiders that live at Drumlin Farm. Caterpillars will be provided by the Caterpillar Lab.

The Caterpillar Lab has reached thousands of people since 2015 at a myriad of venues including Boston Museum of Science, Boston Children's Museum, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Montshire Museum of Science, Hudson Highlands Museum, Mass Audubon Drumlin Farm, Brattleboro Farmer's Market, Vermont Institute of Natural Science, and many more. We entered a more formal academic world by leading dozens of in-school programs, and we developed our first teacher-naturalist training workshops with Mass Audubon.
