Description
Growing on bark, logs, soil, and rocks, lichens are more easily spotted and studied when leafy plants are dormant, which makes winter a great time to study them. Explore a variety of lichens at Broadmoor and practice field identification of common lichen types. Bring a hand lens (at least 10x), if you have one, or borrow one of ours. A notepad and close focusing digital camera or smart phone, if you have one, are also useful.
