Description
Join us for a walk at Stony Brook Reservation in West Roxbury, as we explore the life in a vernal pool and wetlands. Vernal pools are temporary ponds formed in the spring due to melting snow. They are critical habitats for a variety of animal and plant species. The spring is an amazing time for activity in a vernal pool. Salamanders and frogs are laying their eggs, while dragonflies emerge from the water and metamorphosize into a flying insect. We will also be participating in the City Nature Challenege by documenting the creatures we find and sharing them with the larger scientific community. This event is co-sponsored with Zoo New England's Conservation Science Department.
