Vernal Pools at Laughing Brook

Description

Vernal pools are unique and critical habitats that are breeding grounds for many state-listed amphibian species. March and April are the best, and often the only times, to see animals such as spotted salamanders and wood frogs. Join naturalist Kevin Kopchynski to explore a vernal pool, looking for egg masses, amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates. Learn why it's so crucial to protect these small bodies of water and what you can do to help ensure their protection.
