Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, September 10, 2024

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between September 4 and September 10, 2024.

Birds at Race Point in Provincetown this week included a Caspian Tern, a Sabine’s Gull, a Pacific Loon, 9 Whimbrels, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, 150 Roseate Terns, and 15 Parasitic Jaegers.

Sightings at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge included 20 Blue-winged Teal, 3 Gadwall, 29 American Black Duck, 7 Green-winged Teal, a Ruddy Duck, 2 Hudsonian Godwits, a Marbled Godwit, 5 American Coot, 43 Forster’s Terns, and an American Bittern.

Sightings at Pogorelc Sanctuary in Barnstable included 2 Little Blue Herons, a Yellow-crowned Night Herons, 1 Black-crowned Night Heron, 50 Great Egrets, 10 Snowy Egrets, and a White-eyed Vireo

Other sightings around the Cape included an Olive-sided Flycatcher and 2 Black Skimmers in Falmouth, a Seaside Sparrow at Chapin Beach in Dennis, 3 Glossy Ibis at West Dennis Beach, a Hooded Warbler at Wing Island in Brewster, a Blue Grosbeak at Harwich community garden, a Pomarine Jaeger at Nauset Beach in Orleans, and a Pine Siskin and a Seaside Sparrow at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary.
