Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, May 21, 2024

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between May 15 and May 21, 2024.

Swallow-tailed Kites were reported in Orleans, Sandwich and Marstons Mill this week.

A Cerulean Warbler was at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary and single Hooded Warblers were in Sandwich and Barnstable.

Sightings during research at Monomoy NWR included 4 Northern Pintail, an American Golden Plover, 35 Short-billed Dowitchers, 50 Red Knots, 2500 Sanderlings, 1700 Dunlin, 2 White-rumped Sandpipers,

Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Red-necked Grebe, 4 Parasitic Jaegers, a Razorbill, a Black Guillemot, a Common Murre, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 40 Red-throated Loons, and a Manx Shearwater.

Other sightings around the Cape included a Worm-eating Warbler in Falmouth, 2 lingering Ring-necked Ducks at Lumbert Pond in Centerville, a Nelson’s Sparrow at Fort Hill in Eastham, 2 Dark-eyed Juncos in North Truro, and reported of both Red Crossbills and Pine Siskins several places.
