Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, June 18, 2024
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between June 12 and June 18, 2024.
Two Swallow-tailed Kites were seen over Mashpee on Monday and a single bird was resighted on Tuesday. Another single bird was reported over South Sandwich on the 11th.
A Franklin’s Gull was seen at Race Point in Provincetown, where other sightings included a White-rumped Sandpiper, a Royal Tern, a Black Tern, 12 Roseate Terns, and a Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Other sightings around the Cape included a Blue Grosbeak in Falmouth, 21 Red Crossbills at Camp Edwards, a Sora and a Blue-winged Warbler in Sandwich, a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron in West Barnstable, a continuing White-eyed Vireo at Long Pasture sanctuary in Cummaquid, a Tricolored Heron and 2 Gadwall in West Harwich, a Clapper Rail in Eastham, a Black Skimmer at Wellfleet Bay sanctuary, and a Pine Siskin elsewhere in Wellfleet.
