Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, June 11, 2024

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between June 5 and June 11, 2024.

A Sandhill Crane flew by Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay sanctuary on the 8th.

The American Flamingo that spent a day at Chapin Beach in Dennis last week has returned to Long Island, unfortunately.

Sightings at Race Point included a White-rumped Sandpiper, 2 Parasitic Jaegers, a Common Murre, a Razorbill, a Black Guillemot, a Black-legged Kittiwake, 2 Cory’s Shearwaters, plus 2 Great Shearwaters offshore on Stellwagen Bank.

A Mississippi Kite was seen in Chatham and single Swallow-tailed Kites continue to be seen various places in South Sandwich and parts of Barnstable.

Other sightings around the Cape included a Blue Grosbeak in Falmouth, a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron in West Barnstable, a Gadwall in Yarmouth, single White-eyed Vireos in Cummaquid and Truro, a Blue-winged Teal and a Pine Siskin in Chatham, an Iceland Gull on Nauset Beach, 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in Wellfleet, 4 Red Crossbills in Truro, and a Yellow-breasted Chat continuing at Provincetown Airport.
