Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Tuesday, December 10, 2024
Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between December 4 and December 10, 2024.
The Spotted Towhee continued at the Provincetown Airport this week, and the Western Tanager reappeared along Race Point Road.
Sightings at Race Point in Provincetown included a Pacific Loon, a Laughing Gull, a hybrid American Herring x Lesser Black-backed Gull, 10 Iceland Gulls, and a Purple Sandpiper.
A mystery hummingbird continued in Provincetown this week, and other sightings around the Cape included a hybrid Barrow’s x Common Goldeneye in Mashpee, a Cory’s Shearwater and a late Osprey in Dennis, a Clay-colored Sparrow and 2 Palm Warblers in Harwich, 3 American Oystercatchers in Chatham, a late Spotted Sandpiper and a White-rumped Sandpiper at different ponds in Orleans, an Audubon’s Yellow-rumped Warbler in Eastham, a Bohemian Waxwing and 3 Evening Grosbeaks in Truro, a White-winged Crossbill in North Truro, and a Red Crossbill in Provincetown.
