Cape Cod Bird Sightings — Monday, July 1, 2024

Cape Cod Weekly Wildlife Sightings is sponsored by the Bird Watchers General Store in Orleans and Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. The following sightings were reported between June 26 and July 1, 2024.

At least one Swallow-tailed Kite was again seen over Mashpee this week, another was seen over Yarmouth, and a Mississippi Kite was photographed over East Harwich on the 24th.

Three Sandwich Terns were photographed passing Race Point in Provincetown, where other sightings included a Caspian Tern, a Royal Tern, 2 Arctic Terns, a Wilson’s Storm-Petrel, 11 Cory’s Shearwaters, 6 Great Shearwaters, a Sooty Shearwater, and 7 Manx Shearwaters.

A Pomarine Jaeger and two Cliff Swallows were seen at Nauset Beach in Orleans.

Other sightings around the Cape included a Little Blue Heron in Woods Hole, a Blue Grosbeak in Falmouth, two Black Vultures in Bourne, 4 Black Skimmers in Mashpee, a Yellow-crowned Night-Heron in West Barnstable, a White-eyed Vireo in Cummaquid, and a Chuck-will’s-Widow at Nauset Light Beach in Eastham.
