Stony Brook Nature Preschool

February 2024 Update

After much discussion and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the Stony Brook Nature Preschool in Norfolk.   

This decision was not made lightly. We know many children have benefited from this preschool, and we have a deep appreciation for those children, their wonderful families, and our caring preschool staff who have created countless special memories together.   

As a statewide organization, we have had to make some challenging choices regarding how to allocate our resources across the entire organization. Mass Audubon’s mission to protect the nature of Massachusetts is one we take seriously, and we are increasingly looking at how to achieve this mission in the most sustainable and effective way possible.  

The spirit of Stony Brook Nature Preschool will live on through our dedicated staff. While the preschool is closing, our sanctuary staff remains committed to their work at the site and within the community. They will continue to organize and participate in various community programs, ensuring the positive and enriching experiences that Stony Brook Nature Preschool has provided will continue to benefit the community.
