White-winged Crossbill
Loxia leucoptera

Similar to the Red Crossbill, the White-winged Crossbill is an irruptive and nomadic wanderer to Massachusetts. It's also a relatively recent breeder in western parts of the state. This species tends to feed on smaller conifer cones (such as Hemlock), which its larger-billed relative finds less appealing.
