Jellyfish

Jellyfish is the common name for the small invertebrate with a scientific name of medusae. The body of the jellyfish, called the "bell" or "umbrella," is a gelatinous mass shaped like a saucer. There are a number of tentacles that hang down from underneath the body. The majority of Jellyfish are pink, purple, green, blue, and sometimes colorless.
Jellyfish live in large groups on the top layer of the ocean. They eat by wrapping their tentacles around their prey. Jellyfish are carnivores that can eat anything their tentacles can get a hold of.
Jellyfish can grow to be as large as six feet wide. Most Jellyfish swim slowly and are transported by the water's current. Jellyfish have stingers underneath their bodies in the mass of tentacles. The stinger is a serious weapon that the Jellyfish uses to protect itself.
