Green Crab

The Green Crab is a fan-shaped crab found in the Merrimac River and adjacent coastal waters. The males are green and black, and the females are orange and red. Introduced from Europe, the Green Crab is now the most common crab along the shores of the North Atlantic. Scavenging for food throughout rocky tidal zones, the Green Crab is an important part of the food chain and local salt marsh ecosystem.
