Paddling along New England's rivers and streams, we discover a wonderfully diverse world of plants and animals. It also becomes our responsibility to help protect these special habitats.

Non-native invasive species are a grave threat to the health of our rivers. Many overwhelm native species, creating acres of degraded habitat. You can help by cleaning the hull of your boat after each use to ensure that you are not an inadvertent transporter of aquatic invasive species.

If you are interested in learning more, many Mass Audubon Sanctuaries offer a variety of paddling and aquatic related programs.
