Laughing Brook with, its ponds fields and forest habitats is usually home to several pairs of Baltimore Orioles. Join a naturalist on this easy walk looking for orioles and other spring arrivals. Learn about Mass Audubon's birds to watch program and how you can become a citizen scientist and help Massachusetts birds.

Biologists often depend on the observations of regular people like us when it comes to studying animal populations. In this class we will look at some of the ongoing projects at Habitat, including the coverboards, which monitor salamander populations, and our nesting boxes. We will also learn about the Mass Audubon Oriole project and see if we can find nesting sites to report.

The bachelor Baltimore Oriole impresses females with his brilliant orange body with contrasting black head and wings and woos them with his clear, liquid song. In May, Mass Audubon celebrates Oriole Week to focus on this striking songbird whose numbers are declining in Massachusetts. Join citizen scientists across the state in reporting the activities of Baltimore Orioles in your neighborhood and please join us for an oriole walk at Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary in Falmouth. And yes, they really do enjoy orange halves and grape jelly!
