Tips for Tenants
Tenants on the upper floors are encouraged to turn out lights or draw blinds after 11pm.

Tips for Maintenance Staff
Maintenance staff is encouraged to:

  • Clean floors from the top down
  • Light one floor at a time
  • Turn off all lights when leaving a floor

Building Manager or Owner Endorsement Form
The City of Boston, in partnership with Mass Audubon and leading commercial property owners and managers, has introduced Lights Out Boston. This program will reduce energy and help save migratory birds passing through the City during spring and fall migration seasons, helping to meet Mayor Menino's pledge to reduce the amount of heat-trapping gases we emit that contribute to climate change.

It's easy to participate in the program! Simply commit to extinguish architectural and window lighting between 11pm and 5am during migration seasons. If you or others would like to join the pledge, please complete the online form, or download and print the form (PDF 112K) and return it to Mass Audubon (see below).
