Beacon Hill Weekly Roundup - 6/12/09
Jack Clarke, Director of Public Policy & Government Relations
Jennifer Ryan, Assistant Director for Legislative Affairs

This Week:

Celebrate Rivers Month!

Governor Patrick has declared June as Massachusetts "Rivers Month", in celebration of one of the commonwealth's  most important natural resources. Throughout the month, the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game's (DFG) Riverways Program is organizing river-related recreation and educational events at sites across the state.  Activities will include guided canoe trips, whitewater rafting, and fly-fishing, among many others. Please view the calendar for the full schedule. All events sponsored by New England-based environmental and recreational groups.

The DFG Riverways Program works to restore and protect Massachusetts rivers and streams through a wide range of community outreach and technical assistance programs.

Public Input Opportunity: Forest Visioning

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will host a public forum on June 23rd for its Forest Futures Visioning Process. The forum will be an opportunity for members of the public to weigh-in on the management of DCR forest lands through question-and-answer sessions and organized discussion groups. To participate, please RSVP to MODR@umb.edu. For additional information on the forest visioning public input process, please visit http://www.mass.gov/dcr/news/publicmeetings/forestryfvp.htm.
