Wildwood Teen Adventure Trips

Wildwood’s exciting Teen Adventure Trips are designed to immerse teens ages 14 to 17 in the natural wonders of some of New England’s most beautiful areas and to provide fun, appropriate challenges for teens with all levels of outdoor experience. With a focus on learning about the environment, teens gain valuable experience and skills in hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, biking, and low-impact camping. After a day of group building and orientation, teen campers and their trip leaders leave the base camp at Monadnock Conservation Center (Wildwood’s home in Rindge, NH) and head into the wilds of New England. Along the way, they will meet with environmental professionals and natural history experts and learn firsthand about natural science and conservation. Each trip group also completes a brief service project, allowing teens to leave a positive mark on one of the special places they visit.

Trip groups are coed and consist of two leaders and five to eight campers. The group travels together in a passenger van driver by qualified Wildwood staff members. During the trip, the group stays at state or national parks, public or private campgrounds, or Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuaries. Campers participate fully in meal preparation, cooking, and clean-up. The program fee includes all admission fees, programs, and food, as well as rental of special equipment like bicycles, kayaks, or climbing gear. Sample trip itineraries are available upon request.

Trip destinations include:

  • Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island on the Maine Coast
  • Cape Cod and Nantucket Island in Massachusetts
  • Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains of Vermont
  • The White Mountains of New Hampshire
  • NEW for 2009! Newfoundland, Canada’s most easterly province
