Blue Hills Trailside Museum Conservation Science and Ecological Management Development Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary Programs
Blue Hills Trailside Museum The Blue Hills Trailside Museum is a small natural history museum situated at the base of Great Blue Hill, owned by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and managed by Mass Audubon. It is the gateway to the 7000 acre Blue Hills Reservation. The museum features displays using native, non-releasable animals and offers a variety of educational programs. Education Coordinator Location: Milton, MA Oversee and schedule all educational programs including weekend programs, school programs, group programs, workshops, scout programs, public programs, special events and summer camp. Teach up to 10% of the educational programs. Coordinate effective marketing strategies, promotional materials and publicity for all programs and events. Oversee program staff and volunteers. Develop new educational programs. Strengthen existing partnerships with local schools and create new ones through networking and cooperative projects. Exercise cultural competency at all levels by making ongoing efforts to engage diverse individuals, groups, and communities.
Level of Supervision
Work is performed under limited supervision. Provide supervision and guidance to other staff, temporary seasonal staff, or volunteers.
Scope of Responsibility
Plan, market, and implement varied educational programs in conjunction with other staff or individually as appropriate. Has responsibility for developing and tracking budgets.
Teambuilding
Has responsibility for building a well-trained team of camp counselors and part-time educators.
Qualifications: Bachelor‘s degree in environmental, biological or natural sciences, environmental education, interpretation, natural resources, or resources management and three years of experience in environmental education/interpretive programming and one year of supervisory experience and budget management. Applicants must possess strong communication and organizational skills, be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, and adjust to seasonal changes in workload. This position requires a valid driver‘s license and clean driving record. Experience using captive wildlife in educational programs is a plus but not required.
Demonstrated ability to promote and respect diversity including ethnic, cultural, linguistic backgrounds and, physical and mental disabilities.
Ability to be a positive, constructive team member is vital.
Thorough knowledge of planning designing, marketing, scheduling, and evaluating environmental education programs. Familiarity with region’s ecology.

Conservation Science and Ecological Management Regional Scientist Location: Central/Western Massachusetts The Regional Scientist provides leadership, coordinates regional conservation science work, and ensures that Mass Audubon’s 30,000 acre wildlife sanctuary system is managed in a manner reflecting sound ecological practices. Specific responsibilities include: implement Mass Audubon conservation science priorities as part of Regional Scientist team, provide field-based feedback to the Division Vice President, serve as science advisor to the regional director, coordinate sanctuary ecological management activities through the annual planning process and implement ecological management projects as necessary, assist in identifying important regional conservation issues, and identify and obtain funding support. Individual will also be expected to interact with local/state/federal/non-profit representatives on regional issues and collaborate with other Mass Audubon staff and outside scientists, interact extensively with sanctuary staff throughout the region, conduct and/or oversee research on high-priority issues, and supervise staff, interns and volunteers and oversee contracts with researchers, consultants or other experts as needed. Qualifications: Advanced degree in natural sciences, ecology or related field with at least 5-7 years experience in natural resource planning and management is required. Familiarity with northeastern flora, fauna, and natural communities preferred. Other important attributes include excellent communication, organizational, and management skills, and ability to communicate scientific knowledge to lay people and productively engage others in science-based conservation initiatives. Valid driver‘s license and ability to travel throughout the state and to traverse hilly or uneven terrain required. Must also be able to work a flexible schedule. Development Campaign Manager Location: Lincoln, MA Massachusetts Audubon Society, the largest conservation organization in New England, is seeking a highly skilled fundraiser to work collaboratively with selected Mass Audubon sanctuaries and operating units to build capacity and secure resources during Mass Audubon’s statewide comprehensive campaign. The Campaign Manager would be responsible for securing all levels of community philanthropic support including major gifts.
Reporting to the Director of Campaign and Major Gifts, the Campaign Manager will be responsible for multiple projects related to the campaign and major gifts portfolio of 50+ prospects
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Organize and implement pre-campaign and campaign efforts for local sanctuaries and/or operating units.
2. Organize cultivation, recognition and stewardship events in conjunction with the campaign.
3. Develop and maintain a list of approximately 50+ active Mass Audubon donors and prospects with the capacity, interest and inclination to make major gifts to the campaign.
4. Work collaboratively with the Resources staff to identify and cultivate new prospects.
5. Create and implement a cultivation/solicitation/stewardship strategy for each identified prospect.
6. Work with the President, Vice Presidents, Sanctuary Directors and other senior staff to actively engage the organization’s leadership in the cultivation of donors and prospects.
7. Implement and ensure compliance with donor recognition and gift policies.
8. Manage and implement sanctuary related fundraising events.
9. Actively participate in Resources Department staff meetings.
10. Develop and implement tasks necessary to create and/or maintain local campaign advisory committees.
11. Actively participate in other related fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications:
· A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive development experience, preferably with a portion of that experience at a community based organization.
· Demonstrated experience with prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
· The ability to develop a strategy to motivate donors and prospects;
· Solid knowledge of annual giving and special events.
· Demonstrated ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork, respect and excellence.
· The ability to think and act strategically and independently.
· Strong analytical and organizational skills.
· Experience in successfully managing multiple priorities and/or projects.
· Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
· The ability to effectively communicate Mass Audubon’s mission and work;
· Experience with membership and fundraising databases and Microsoft Office products.
· Willingness to travel within Massachusetts and possess a valid driver’s license.
· BA degree or higher.

Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary Assistant Crops Manager Location: Lincoln, MA Massachusetts Audubon Society is seeking an Assistant Crops Manager for its 232-acre sanctuary in Lincoln, MA. Drumlin Farm is a wildlife sanctuary and working farm where a staff of educators and farmers teach school children, visitors, volunteers and apprentices sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
The Assistant Crops Manager will work with Drumlin Farm’s Crops Manager to train seasonal apprentices, make educational opportunities available to school and camp groups, and grow 14 acres of crops for distribution to two Boston area farmers markets, a vegetable stand on the property, and a summer and winter CSA project.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with daily field operations including field preparation, planting, cultivating and harvesting.
Managing the administrative side of the summer and winter CSA.
Managing one weekly farmers’ market.
Coordinating communication with the on site Educational Staff.
Supervising interns when Crops Manager is not present.
Organizing and working with volunteers and CSA work share members.
Helping prepare and manage crop plan and greenhouse planting schedule.
Helping develop and update marketing materials.
Seeking out opportunities to teach co-workers, visitors and consumers about sustainable agriculture.
Qualifications: At least two years of crop production experience and experience using tractors and implements; background in sales or community outreach and education.
Must be hard working, dependable, and open to learning and willing to work a flexible schedule.

Volunteer Coordinator – 32 hours per week Location: Lincoln We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced volunteer coordinator to manage Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary’s 650+ person volunteer programs. Volunteers give their valuable time to help sustain the sanctuary and, in return, Drumlin gives volunteers valuable learning experiences. We are looking for a dedicated volunteer coordinator with great people skills who can serve both our volunteers and the sanctuary with energy, imagination and enthusiasm. Drumlin Farm’s volunteer program supports its livestock management, crops, wildlife care, education, visitor services, visitor education, and property maintenance departments as well as ecological management projects and special events. Under the supervision of the sanctuary’s Administrative Manager, the volunteer coordinator will manage all aspects of Drumlin’s very active volunteer program including: recruiting, screening, training, placing, scheduling, supervising, evaluating and recognizing the volunteers. Qualifications: This position requires a BA or BS or equivalent experience and two years of volunteer management or other work-related experience; strong communication and human relations management skills; and a commitment to helping others develop an understanding of and concern for the environment. Knowledge of local and regional natural history, the principles of ecological management, and sustainable agriculture is preferred and considered in determination of weekly schedule. The position requires one weekend day and some evening work, the ability to participate in and supervise volunteer work on unimproved trails in remote sanctuary locations, a valid MA driver‘s license, and instate travel. Experience or training in the use of computer for word processing and data management, pesticide applicators license, first-aid, and CPR required. Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary Property Worker - Full-Time Location: Sharon, MA Opportunity to work with all aspects of the grounds, trails and facilities at the Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Sharon, MA. Perform routine maintenance labor tasks that include lifting heavy objects, basic electrical and plumbing, carpentry, painting, fence repairs, cleaning buildings, snow removal. Assist with Moose Hill’s Community Farm, which provides vegetables to over 200 families. Work with staff and volunteers of different ages. Assist with ecological management of the property. Work in collaboration with administrative and education staff to provide support for programs and events. Qualifications: Excellent verbal and communication skills and ability to work cooperatively and independently required. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and commitment to helping others. High School Diploma and three years related experience a minimum. Programs Regional Director (Southeast/Islands Region) Location: Lincoln, MA A key member of Mass Audubon’s senior leadership, the Regional Director, whose region covers South Shore area, southeastern MA, Cape Cod and the Islands, has overall responsibility to ensure that programs/sites within the region are well-managed, fiscally responsible and strategically positioned to carry out Mass Audubon’s mission.
The Regional Director develops and guides Mass Audubon activity in the region to ensure that programmatic resources align with the organization’s conservation goals. The Regional Director raises funds and allocates resources - human and financial - within the region to achieve Mass Audubon objectives. He/she provides leadership and assistance to unit managers, reviews the performance of unit managers, as well as participates in the development and implementation of major Mass Audubon operating policy, budgets, and programs.
The Regional Director also demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to adapt to and facilitate organizational change as well as an ability to promote, respect, and secure diversity of ethnic, cultural, linguistic backgrounds, and physical and mental abilities. To accomplish many of these responsibilities, the Regional Director will travel frequently throughout the Region, utilizing available workstation space at various nature centers.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 8 years management or related experience in conservation or related fields.
Experience in the recruitment, management and development of professional staff, especially among under-represented groups, and the ability to organize, inspire, and support people with diverse skills and backgrounds to create a common program or shared result.
Proven ability to raise funds, develop and implement plans and budgets, manage personnel, and follow through on strategies necessary to meet objectives.
Excellent communications skills (written and oral) including representation of Mass Audubon in public meetings and ability to work with a wide range of individuals and organizations.
