Multiflora Rose (Rosa multiflora)

Form:
  deciduous shrub, grows to 10 feet or more, typically wider than tall
Origin:
  eastern Asia
How it got here:
  introduced for horticulture and frequently planted for wildlife food and as a living fence due to its dense growth form and numerous sharp thorns
How it spreads:
  fruit and seed dispersed primarily by birds. Multiflora rose can also spread vegetatively.
Threat:
  forms dense thickets in fields and field edges, also becomes established in open wetlands and in forests where canopy openings occur.
