Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)

Form:
  perennial herb, typically 3 to 5 feet tall, occasionally up to 7 feet
Origin:
  Europe
How it got here:
  probably accidental
How it spreads:
  a single purple loosestrife plant can produce a million or more small seeds that are spread by water and waterfowl
Threat:
  invades wetlands, often forming dense colonies that exclude native plants
