Garlic-mustard (Alliaria petiolata)

Form:
  biennial herb, forms basal rosettes in first year, grows 1 to 3 feet tall and flowers in second year.
Origin:
  Europe
How it got here:
  probably introduced for use in cooking
How it spreads:
  large numbers of small seeds are dispersed by wind and water
Threat:
  invades fields and woodlands displacing native plants. Garlic mustard can alter soil conditions in a manner that inhibits the growth of most other plants.
