  perennial herb, grows 1.5 to 4 feet tall
Origin:
  Europe, western Asia, northern Africa
How it got here:
  likely introduced as a garden flower
How it spreads:
  plants send out rhizomes to form dense colonies, seeds and rhizomes may be transported by water
Threat:
  invades wetlands, forming dense colonies that displace native species
